What’s The Hype || MACA Powder
Maca Powder was discovered in the Andes mountains of Peru in the 1980’s but has recently began to gain some great attention. And for good reason! It has tons of amazing health benefits that you wouldn’t even think about. Firstly, a little background on Maca itself. It is a plant of the Brassicaceae family, it is mostly found at stores and used in powder form and can be added to a variety of snacks and meals, thanks to its neutral flavor.
Most of the powder that you find and use is actually powder from the root of the plant. That is where most of the nutrients are located, which is EXACTLY what we want!
As we have discussed before, antioxidants are really, really good for your body. They neutralize harmful free radicals in our bodies, which basically helps fight and prevent cell damage and disease. Maca is rich in antioxidants, which essentially means that it aids in the prevention of disease! I’m not just guessing about this or making it up either, there have been very recent studies that show how great the antioxidants in Maca Root have performed.
Maca root has also been linked to balancing estrogen levels.
This is more than great for many women, considering an imbalance can cause night sweats, irregular menstrual periods, bloating, and more! On top of that, estrogen levels are a vital part of fertility, so if you’re looking to have children, it is best to take note of your levels and get them in check. But wait, there more! Maca also helps with the fertility of men as well. Maybe it doesn’t level out their testosterone, well, at least it’s not proven yet, but it has been studied to show an increase in their sexual desire, and aid in sexual dysfunctions.
Since it is such a new-found plant, studies are continuing with each month that passes. It is clear though that it has tons of health benefits for most people out there. To learn more, ask your doctor, or even make a quick Google search to do some of your own research. Also, if you haven’t tried it yet, there are loads of smoothie places that are starting to use it in their beverages, so maybe give it a taste before you buy a whole container of it. Just to make sure it’s something you like.
