Underrated Ways to Give Back
There are so many different ways that you can give back. Some of you may be asking, well give back to who? Or to what? Well, it actually doesn’t matter to who or what we are giving back. Whether you own a small business and want to give back to the community, give blood at a local bank/hospital, or just want to give someone a smile by saying something meaningful, it all counts as giving back! Those are just a few of the ways you can give back. Sometimes it is hard to come up with new ideas, but to get your creativity and giving abilities rolling, just try to think about how you can make someone or a group of people happy!
Helping the Homeless
This one may seem obvious, but I don’t mean handing them a dollar or two as you walk or drive passed them. Instead, set out on a giving adventure. Spend an hour or so doing something special for them. As an example, a few months ago, a friend of mine went and bought 20 pizzas from Little Caesars, and spent around 2 hours driving through a heavily populated homeless community, handing out pieces of pizza. The joy from each and every person that got to eat that night was literally shown glimmering through her smile! He was bright as a light for the rest of the week. And the reason for that is because giving and helping other people feels truly amazing. It makes you really feel like a great, genuine, helpful person!
Give to the Soldiers
There are young men and women who are out fighting for our freedom in some nasty places around the world, many of them without family or friends back home to receive letters from. Sending them letters and care packages makes their deployment more worthwhile and enjoyable, as well as helps them out a lot! You can use the company Operation Gratitude to learn more information and get all setup as well, which makes it even easier!
Bring Your Neighbors a Treat
This is one of the smaller, easier ones, but that doesn’t mean that you should rule it out! Instead, think of it as an add-on. Not only will it help your neighborhood become a stronger community that looks out for each other, but it can also help in making friends! It doesn’t take much money or time to bake up some cookies or cupcakes for a few people. Make your rounds and become the favorite on the block! Small steps like this will help you to become a better, more giving person, which will also create an increase in your happiness levels as well. So, your whole street will be happier, including you!
Cover the Costs of Someone’s Fuel
This one is only for the people who have extra finances to give away. But gas prices are soaring again right now, and some people are having a hard time paying for a fill up. So, if you have a little extra money to spare, make someone’s whole month by filling up their gas tank when you think they could use it. Something this small can actually go a long way; they will be telling the story of how this random person bought them gas. It will make everyone they tell the story to want to give just like you did! A constant and forever win!
Again, these are just a few different ideas on giving back! Get as creative as you can. Use your church, favorite nonprofit organization, and family members to figure different methods out! Make it fun, and make it a bi-monthly or monthly tradition! You will notice how good you feel afterwards and crave more! It really is an awesome feeling that you will enjoy.
