Subtle Self-Care Practices
If you have been keeping up with the blog, you may have been awaiting this post, as self-care was the main focus of the last post. If you haven’t had the chance to read it, you can find it here. Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty; self-care is very important to the wellbeing of your mind and body. It is something that you need to focus on, even if you have three, four, or five kids running around, driving you crazy by making a mess in the room you just finished cleaning. Don’t worry, you aren’t alone.
Some of the most discussed self-care practices that you can find on the internet are finding ways to lower your stress, improve your diet, exercise, and overall health, and continue to take care of your hygiene. Here in this article, we will instead discuss small, subtle ways that you can implement self-care into your everyday lives. Below is a list of ways you can accomplish that!
We have been discussing meditation a lot lately, and for good reason. This is one of the best, easiest, and most affordable ways to start taking care of your body and mind. If this interests you, be sure to check out some of our posts about the benefits of meditation, how to get into meditation, and more! It really does work wonders; see for yourself and give it a try.
This might be a given, but if you are feeling stressed, don’t put it aside and continue pushing through your routine. One day you are just going to blow up. But not if you include a spa day whenever needed. Feel free to get carried away with this one. There is no such thing as having too many spa days!
If you don’t have the money or time for spa days, a bubble bath will also do the trick. It will allow you to have some peace and peace of mind. These really don’t have a limit, just be sure to take it easy on the wine while you’re in the bath. In fact, try to supplement your wine with some candlelight. The more Zen the better, as you may get into a meditation session at the same time! Win-Win!
Read a Book
This one is also very affordable, if not free, and allows you to kind of shed some of your stressful thoughts about your life and just kind of release yourself into a different world. A good book in this case would be a positive, confident, encouraging, heartening, or hopeful one. Don’t read one that is going to bring some of your stressful emotions back into your mind. The key is to get your mind off of those.
Drink more Tea
This one works better than you’d think. Just the smell of tea has been proven to actually calm our nerves. If your having a bad day, this may be the first tactic you should try. The warmth alone can also provide a calming sensation.
You don’t need to do every single one, although more power to ya if you do! Try them out, one by one or a few at a time, testing the waters to see which ones work best for you. These aren’t the only methods you can use either; do what you think will make you happy. This is called SELF-care for a reason, it is about YOU and only you, so think about yourself and give self-care a go!
