Kombucha: The Miracle Drink
I am obsessed with Kombucha- the taste, the health benefits, and the simplicity of this drink! This is not a new trend; Kombucha has been around for thousands of years. Yesss recently it has become ever so popular in the states, but it was around as far back as 300 BC.
What is it you ask? It is a sugar-tea solution that goes through a fermentation process by bacteria and yeast commonly known as a “SCOBY” (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) to create a healthy “miracle” beverage. So basically, Fermented Black Tea. This beverage is known to the wellness community to work wonders on your body. The glucosamines in Kombucha help to ease the intensity of arthritis. Phytochemicals and B vitamins are just a few of the nutrients packed in this drink.
We often replace water with tasty treats such as – soda, sweetened coffee drinks, and other artificially sweetened beverages. STOP that right now! By drinking Kombucha your body will feel as if it is induldging in one of those bad drinks, but won’t pay the price later. This is a great way to slow down… or better yet, stop your bad drinking habits.
Since Kombucha is a probiotic you can count on a healthy gut and glowing skin. By detoxifying the body using probiotics and gluconic acid your skin will begin to clear up and radiate from within! Probiotics work wonders for people who suffer with troubled skin.
- Promotes a healthy gut with probiotics.
- Boosts energy with enzymes & B vitamins.
- Strengthens the immune system using Anti-oxidants
SCORE! A strong and healthy digestive system is essential if you want to lead a healthy life. You can exercise all you want and drink tons of water, but if you don’t feed you body the proper nutrients then you might be wasting time. I know I mentioned how this is a naturally energizing beverage… well be aware that it does not have the power that coffee does. If you are looking for a midday pick me up then this is your drink, but definitely not for the morning after an all-nighter.
There are soooo many companies out there making Kombucha now-a-days, but be careful – many are packed full of unnecessary sugars! It is best to find those with less than 4 grams of sugar and ingredients you can pronounce. As you read earlier there is not much to making this tasty drink. One last thing! Drinking too much kombucha can be harmful – make sure to drink in moderation!
