Health Benefits of Carrots

Carrots can be a yummy snack or a great additive to any meal, but what do they really do for your body? Are multi-colored carrots better than the popular orange carrots we see at the store? No, they both carry the same amount of beneficial nutrients our body needs. With my three young daughters I will often buy the multi-colored carrots to liven up a dish… they are more likely to eat what I’ve cooked if it looks fun.

Now lets talk benefits!! These popular vegetable are packed with Vitamins and minerals that help improve your vision, slow down the aging process, reduce cholesterol, and lots more! These tasty veggies are beneficial to every person and at every age so start your snackin’.  Carrots have the ability to give your skin that healthy look & feel, boost your immune system, improve your overall digestive system, detoxify the body, and they even increase your oral health!!  Wow, what don’t they do?!

As we age our eyes tend to weaken and our skin begins to lose its elasticity… carrots are a great way to help slow down this aging process!!! We all want beautiful, youthful, and glowing skin so just make sure to eat your carrots and you’ll watch your skin begin to go back in time!!! Consuming the veggies in their raw form is always the best. This trend of juicing tends to remove a lot of the benefits so try and avoid consuming them as a beverage and more as a raw mid-day snack!

Carrots Are Full Of What??

  • Beta-carotene
  • Fiber
  • Great Source of Antioxidants
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • Copper
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Folate
  • Manganese
  • and much more on a smaller scale

I know they say it’s not good to play with your food, but with kiddos I have found it best to take them to your local garden/orchard and allow them to pick their own carrots. This is a fun day spent with the family and teaches them all about how they are grown & harvested. Now, if you are having trouble getting your little ones to enjoy these raw veggies, try adding a variety of dipping sauces to their next plate. It’s okay to add a little flavor, but make sure not to completely coat these bad boys. Adding to much ranch or vinaigrette can triple to amount of calories, yikes!
