Emotions Are Insights into Your Personality
If you haven’t read our post on having a Positive Outlook and how it can affect your health and personality, be sure to go check that out! It correlates with this post and together, they can give you a better understanding on how your mind, emotions, personality, and outlook have vast effects on your overall life and well-being. Today, we are going to talk a little bit about how our emotions truly, unswervingly link with our personality. In fact, as the title implies, our emotions are simply insights into our personality. Meaning – Each and every emotion we have is basically a perspective of how our personality will subconsciously react.
An example of this would be when someone is feeling the emotion – Angry.
As soon as they begin to feel that emotion, their personality will begin to reflect those feelings into actions, whether they be expressions, gestures, movements, etc. The same goes for each and every other emotion. Another way to think of it is by imagining a mirror, and when your emotions look into the mirror, your personality reflects those emotions right back. It is quite a simple concept to grasp an understanding of but obtaining control of it is another story.
Once you begin to regularly think of how a specific emotion that you are feeling in the now is going to affect your personality, and in turn affect those around you, then and only then will you be able to control how those emotions affect you. Will you let them take over and make rash decisions for you? Or will you take control of your emotions? One secret to getting a grip on controlling your emotions is meditation paired with critical thinking. Using these two methods together give you a great basis for mental control and stability. Meditation allows you to slow down and pick through your thoughts one at a time. Whereas critical thinking aids in thinking about why you think about a certain thing or event. Take hold of your mindfulness and see where your emotions and personality take you. If you’ve been stuck in a negative or unwanted mental rut, remember that you are in charge of your mind and you can make a difference on how you handle each and every situation.
