Just the opposite of how positivity can have a great impact on your life, negativity can actually have a pessimistic affect, which can also be long term! It is so important to control your negativity and even figure out ways to cut it out of your life. There are a lot of different things that happen in our lives that lead to negativity, and finding those and understanding them can help us to control and eliminate them overall.
Some of the biggest factors that create negative thoughts are negative actions. You would think that you have a negative thought before you act upon it, but most of the time, when you say or do something negative, you don’t actually think before doing/saying it. This makes it hard to control in the moment, but practicing and thinking beforehand can really help in such.
One of the things that you can try working on controlling is criticizing people, whether they are there or not. This absolutely includes gossiping when those people aren’t around. This automatically creates negative thoughts, which can last throughout the whole day, or even into the next day! Which can become a full cycle that takes a long time to come to an end. If you find yourself doing this from time to time, try to start by controlling this, and then work into fixing some of your other negative characteristics.
Another way to control some of the negativity in your life is to look at some of the people that you surround yourself with on a consistent basis. Are they bringing more of it into your conversations? You don’t necessarily have to cut people out of your life, instead you can try talking about other topics, or even bringing up the fact that when you do talk, it happens to be about negative things. This way, everyone can become healthier, better people overall. I always try to push using your friends and family to help better yourself, which in turn, always helps better them as well. Using teamwork and having a good support system is the best way to make positive change in your and their life.
No matter which way you do it, try to start controlling and lowering your negativity. It will have a beautiful impact on your happiness, which will also improve your health.
