Almond Milk: Blue Diamond vs. Pacific Organic

Do You Drink Almond Milk?

Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Vs. Pacific Organic Almond Milk

There are a few different brands of Almond Milk that are getting big and others that are growing. Knowing the different between them is important considering they all have different ingredients and nutrients that are necessary to replace those in dairy. This article may be especially useful for vegans or those of you who don’t drink dairy milk. Here are some of the differences between two of the big brands that most everyone has access to.

Blue Diamond Almond Breeze – This is one of the larger companies on the market. You can find them at most major grocery stores, which is a major plus. Two benefits of this company is that 1) They use non-GMO almonds, and 2) Their U.S. products are carrageenan free. They have a variety of flavors, including Original, Vanilla, Chocolate, Sweetened Vanilla, and Unsweetened Vanilla.

Ingredients: Almond Milk, Evaporated Cane Juice, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Citrate, Sea Salt, Sunflower Lecithin, Gellan Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate, & Vitamin D2, D-Alpha-Tocopherol.

Pacific Organic Almond Milk – Here is another brand that is larger and can be found at tons of different stores. They don’t have as many flavors as Blue Diamond, but those added flavors have more sugar anyways, and they do match them with non-GMO almonds. Pacific’s milk flavors are Original, Vanilla, Unsweetened, and Unsweetened Vanilla.

Ingredients: Almond Base, Dried Cane Syrup, Potassium Citrate, Sea Salt, Carrageenan, Riboflavin, Vitamin A Palmitate, & Vitamin D2.

Comparison – As you can see, the ingredients of the two are very similar. Although one thing stands out on one of them and some people may see it as a downfall – Carrageenan. Carrageenan is a texturizing additive that some people find to have gastro-intestinal issues with. Also, although Blue Diamond offers Chocolate Almond Milk, it may not be a great option. Chocolate Almond Milk has almost the same amount of sugar as a can of soda! Avg. Soda 26g vs Chocolate Almond Milk 20g. Seems like a tie-breaker to me.
